Alexander Sammurtok was elected in the general election held on October 25, 2021, to represent the constituency of Rankin Inlet North-Chesterfield Inlet in the 6th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.
Mr. Sammurtok previously sat as a Member of the 4th Legislative Assembly and is a former Mayor of Whale Cove.
Mr. Sammurtok attended the Churchill Vocational Centre and is a trained plumber. During his public service career, Mr. Sammurtok held a number of positions, including Regional Director in the Department of Community and Government Services.
Mr. Sammurtok is the proud father of five children.
Mr. Sammurtok’s personal interests include hunting and other on-the-land activities.
