Standing Committee Announces Televised Hearing on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly on Climate Change in Nunavut

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 3, 2018) - The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts today announced that its televised hearing on the 2018 Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly on Climate Change in Nunavut will be held from April 30, 2018-May 1, 2018.

The Auditor General’s appearance before the standing committee begins at 1:30pm on Monday, April 30, 2018. The Auditor General’s report can be downloaded from the following locations:

“Climate change poses a serious threat to our environment and way of life,” said Committee Chair George Hickes, MLA for Iqaluit-Tasiluk. “Our committee’s televised hearing will allow Members to hold Government of Nunavut departments and territorial corporations to account for what specific actions are being taken to respond to the issues and recommendations that are contained in the Auditor General’s report.”

The standing committee’s hearing will take place in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly and will be open for the public to observe. The hearing will be televised on local community cable stations and direct-to-home satellite service on the Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 289 – classic / channel 489 – new lineup) networks.
