Standing Committee Announces Schedule of Televised Hearings

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 10, 2025) - The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts will hold televised hearings from April 24, 2025 to May 1, 2025, on the most recent annual report of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Nunavut; the most recent annual report of the Representative for Children and Youth; the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut: 2025 Follow-up on Child and Family Services in Nunavut; and the most recent territorial public accounts.

Senior officials from the Government of Nunavut will also appear as witnesses at the televised hearings.

“Our televised hearings will provide an opportunity for Members of the Legislative Assembly to consider the extent to which the Government of Nunavut is taking action to address recommendations made by these independent officers and the standing committee itself,” said Committee Chairperson George Hickes, MLA for Iqaluit-Tasiluk.

The standing committee’s televised hearings begin at 1:30pm in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The hearings will be televised on local community cable stations and direct-to-home satellite service on the Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 289 - classic / channel 489 - new lineup) networks.
