Abraham Qammaniq was elected in the general election held on October 27, 2025, to represent the constituency of Amittuq in the 7th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.
Mr. Qammaniq serves as a member of the Striking Committee.
Prior to his election, Mr. Qammaniq was employed as a Government Liaison Officer with the territorial Department of Community Services.
Mr. Qammaniq has held positions with the Qikiqtani Inuit Association, the Sanirajak Hunters and Trappers Association and the Nunavut Employees Union.
Mr. Koonoo has been a long-term community search and rescue volunteer,
Abraham and Leah are the proud parents of five children.
Mr. Qammaniq‘s personal interests include hunting, woodworking and mechanics.
