Honourable Janet Pitsiulaaq Brewster

The Honourable Janet Pitsiulaaq Brewster was first elected in 2021 to serve in the 6th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut as the Member for Iqaluit-Sinaa. She was re-elected in the general election held on October 27, 2025, to serve as a Member of the 7th Legislative Assembly.

Ms. Brewster was elected to serve on the Executive Council during the November 18, 2025, proceedings of the Nunavut Leadership Forum. She was formally sworn into office on November 20, 2025.

During the 6th Legislative Assembly, Ms. Brewster served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Social Wellness and a member of the Management and Services Board.

Ms. Brewster’s previous professional experience includes approximately two decades of work in senior positions with the territorial Department of Health in the fields of health promotion and protection, patient relations, medical travel and population health. Ms. Brewster is also a former Executive Director of the Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association.

Ms. Brewster has served as the Deputy Mayor of Iqaluit and is a past member of the board of directors of the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, the Governance Council of the Nunavut and Northwest Territories Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission and the Northern Contaminants Program Management Committee. She was founding Vice-Chair of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation and has been active with the National Family and Survivors Circle established under the 2021 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People National Action Plan and the Nunavut chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Ms. Brewster is an artist, harvester and mother.
