Special Committee to Review the Education Act holding public consultations across Nunavut

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 7, 2015) - The Legislative Assembly’s Special Committee to Review the Education Act will be travelling across Nunavut to hold public consultations on the legislation which guides the implementation and administration of Nunavut’s education system, the Education Act. The Special Committee will be in Baker Lake on April 20; in Kugluktuk on April 21; in Pond Inlet on May 11 and in Iqaluit on May 12. Details on times and venues will follow at a later date.

Auditor General of Canada to Appear Before Standing Committee

IQALUIT, Nunavut (March 19, 2015) - The Auditor General of Canada, Mr. Michael Ferguson, will appear before the Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts at 1:30pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, on the occasion of the Standing Committee’s hearings on the 2015 Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut on Corrections in Nunavut. The hearings will be held from May 5-7, 2015.

2014 Speaker’s Youth Parliament to be Televised Live Across Nunavut

IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 25, 2014) - The Honourable George Qulaut, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, today announced that the 5th Speaker’s Youth Parliament will be televised live across the territory on local community cable stations and direct-to-home satellite service on the Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 289 – classic / channel 489 – new lineup) networks.
