Reverend Michael Gardener, C.M., to Receive the Order of Nunavut on November 29, 2011

IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 21, 2011) - Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Chairperson of the Order of Nunavut Advisory Council Hunter Tootoo today announced that the Reverend Michael Gardener, C.M., will receive the Order of Nunavut at a public investiture ceremony to be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at 4:00pm in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly.

Standing Committee to hold hearings on the Annual Reports of the Languages Commissioner and Information and Privacy Commissioner

IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 2, 2011) - The Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts will hold hearings from November 22-25, 2011, on the most recent annual reports to the Legislative Assembly of the Languages Commissioner of Nunavut and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Nunavut. All Regular Members of the Legislative Assembly serve on the Standing Committee.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 12, 2011) - The Members of the Legislative Assembly will meet with the Chairperson of the Nutrition North Canada Advisory Board and program administrators from the federal Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. “This meeting will provide an important opportunity for the Chairperson of the independent advisory board and federal officials to update MLAs and all Nunavummiut on the status of initiatives to enhance the Nutrition North Canada Program,” said Caucus Chairperson John Ningark, MLA for Akulliq.
