IQALUIT, Nunavut (September 3, 2026) - The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts will hold televised hearings from September 23, 2026, to October 1, 2026, on the most recent set of territorial public accounts and the annual reports of independent officers of the Legislative Assembly, including the Information and Privacy Commissioner, the Languages Commissioner and the Representative for Children and Youth.
Senior officials from the Government of Nunavut will also appear as witnesses at the televised hearings.
“Our televised hearings will provide an opportunity for Members of the Legislative Assembly to consider the extent to which the Government of Nunavut is taking action to address recommendations made by the Office of the Auditor General, other independent officers of the Legislative Assembly and the standing committee itself,” said Committee Chairperson Fred Pedersen, MLA for Cambridge Bay.
The standing committee’s televised hearings begin at 1:30pm in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The hearings will be televised on local community cable stations and direct-to-home satellite service on the Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 181) networks.
