Invitation for Applications Representative for Children and Youth

Applications are invited for the position of Representative for Children and Youth.

The Representative for Children and Youth is an Independent Officer of the Legislative Assembly. The Representative for Children and Youth is appointed on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly, pursuant to the Representative for Children and Youth Act. This is a five-year statutory appointment.

The legislation prescribes the responsibilities of the Representative, which include the duty to ensure that the rights and interests of children and youth, individually and collectively, are protected and advanced and that their views are heard and considered in matters affecting them by government departments and designated authorities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced senior manager with proven professional success in such fields as child and youth welfare, education, justice, health or social services. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of administrative law, including the application of the principles of natural justice in the conduct of formal reviews and investigations. Professional experience must also include proven success in the areas of financial and human resources management.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate how they meet the requirements and competencies set out in the Position Profile. The salary range for the position is $136,090.00 to $194,414.00 per annum.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
