IQALUIT, Nunavut (December 1, 2021) - The Legislative Assembly’s Full Caucus will meet in Cambridge Bay from December 6 to 10, 2021, to hold a strategic planning Retreat.
Premier Akeeagok has also extended an invitation to members of the Nunavut Tunngavik Board to join the Full Caucus on the first day of the Retreat. This is the first time that all MLAs and Nunavut’s Inuit Organizations have been invited to collaboratively take part in the strategic planning leading to the development of the Government of Nunavut’s mandate.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 30, 2021) - The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut will join other Canadian jurisdictions in illuminating the territory’s official Christmas lights display as part of the 2021 Christmas Lights Across Canada program.
Speaker Tony Akoak said, “The annual lighting ceremony begins at 5:15pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Nunavummiut are warmly invited to join Premier Akeeagok at the event as we welcome the holiday season.”

IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 17, 2021) - Nunavut’s Speaker, Premier and Members of the Executive Council were chosen today by the Nunavut Leadership Forum. The Forum consists of all MLAs.
Tony Akoak, MLA for Gjoa Haven, was acclaimed as Speaker.
Three Members accepted nominations to serve as Premier. P.J. Akeeagok, MLA for Iqaluit-Niaqunnguu, was elected as Premier.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 15, 2021) - The Legislative Assembly’s Caucus today announced the date and format for the 2021 Nunavut Leadership Forum. The Forum consists of all MLAs.
The Forum will be held in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly, beginning at 10:00am (EST) on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. The selection of the Speaker, Premier and members of the Executive Council (Cabinet) will be made by secret ballot. The first item of business will be the election of the Speaker. The Speaker-Elect will preside over the proceedings of the Forum.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (September 8, 2021) - The pre-dissolution sitting of the House will convene at 1:30pm (EST) on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
Although public access to the foyer and visitors’ gallery continues to be restricted as a consequence of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and state of public health emergency, all Members of the Legislative Assembly will participate in person. The 5th Legislative Assembly will be dissolved on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (August 17, 2021) - Pat Angnakak, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Iqaluit-Niaqunnguu, today announced her decision to resign her seat as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, effective immediately.
Ms. Angnakak said, “It has been a tremendous honour serving as the Member for Iqaluit-Niaqunnguu. After much reflection and consultation with family and constituents, I have decided to seek the confidence of Nunavummiut to represent them as their next Member of Parliament.”

IQALUIT, Nunavut (May 26, 2021) - The spring 2021 sitting of the House will convene at 1:30pm (EST) on Thursday, May 27, 2021. The sitting of Friday, May 28, 2021, will begin at 2:00pm (EST).
As a consequence of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the spring sitting will be held in a hybrid format. A number of Members will be participating remotely from their constituencies via the Zoom platform. The Legislative Assembly’s normal sitting hours will be adjusted to reflect the hybrid format. Public access to the foyer and visitors’ gallery continues to be restricted.
