IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 15, 2021) - As a consequence of the public health measures announced by the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer, the Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts has postponed its televised hearing that was scheduled to be held from April 19-20, 2021. IQALUIT, Nunavut (February 1, 2021) - Speaker Paul Quassa today announced that the swearing-in ceremony and personal investiture into the Order of Nunavut for Commissioner-designate Eva Qamaniq Aariak, C.M., will take place at 09:30am (EST) on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (December 3, 2020) - The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut joined other Canadian jurisdictions today in illuminating the territory’s official Christmas lights display as part of the 2020 Christmas Lights Across Canada program.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 3, 2020) - The Legislative Assembly approved a motion at its sitting of November 2, 2020, recommending that Mr. Graham Steele be appointed Nunavut’s new Information and Privacy Commissioner. The motion was unanimously adopted by the House.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 30, 2020) - A new member of the Executive Council was chosen today by the Nunavut Leadership Forum. The Forum consists of all MLAs.
Margaret Nakashuk, Member for Pangnirtung, was elected to serve on the Executive Council.
The Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act provides that the Premier has the prerogative to assign Ministerial portfolios.
A formal motion to confirm the appointment will be made at the next sitting of the House.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (September 28, 2020) - Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Chairperson of the Order of Nunavut Advisory Council Paul Quassa today announced that Mr. Peter Tapatai will be this year’s recipient of the Order of Nunavut.
On January 1, 2010, The Order of Nunavut Act came into force. The objective of the Order is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the territory. The Order is the highest honour of Nunavut and takes precedence over all other orders, decorations or medals conferred by the Government of Nunavut.
